Acclaimed independent filmmaker Byron Hurt’s latest film Soul Food Junkies will premiere at the American Black Film Festival this week.

Our friends at Filmwax are hosting a brand new screening series, Movie Night at Franklin Park, beginning this Monday May 21st.

Long time Rooftop alumni Stephen Collins’ latest film will have its New York premiere at reRun Gastropub Theater! Steve will be there in person to talk about this darkly comic, off-kilter film.

Award-winning filmmaker Bryan Wizemann’s feature plays Rooftop’s Opening Weekend on May 12. Bryan talked with us about his inspiration for the film, his festival success, and working with Lauren Ambrose.

Rooftop is proud to co-present two screenings at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, Andrew Semans’ “Nancy, Please,” and Michael Palmieri & Donal Mosher’s “Off Label.” And don’t miss the other great Rooftop Alums at this year’s fest.

We know that there are a ton of film events this season, most notably SXSW fever, which has many of our friends skipping town for sunny Austin, TX. For those of us who didn’t get on a plane last week, there are still some great events right here in the city (and at a much lower cost!)
