Are you looking for affordable speakers or projector rentals for use in your own film screening, business presentation, fundraiser, or any other special events? Rooftop Films has you covered (and we’ll keep you on budget too). In addition to our annual Summer Series we have been producing film/video/music events throughout New York since 1997 and have always been proud of our commitment to quality presentation.

We have competitive rates, a large selection of high quality video and audio equipment, as well as inexpensive delivery and technical assistance for your events. Plus, we offer a wide range of event production services; from securing venues to film curation and marketing outreach to box office management. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit all proceeds from our rentals go towards our vital programs, including the Summer Series and the Rooftop Filmmakers’ Fund grant program.

FAQs

Why rent from Rooftop Films?

All proceeds go to sustain and develop the nonprofit endeavors of Rooftop Films. As an organization we offer a platform and support for new work from independent filmmakers, as well as resources and expertise for community events all over the five boroughs. 

Why are Rooftop’s rental rates lower than standard rental houses?

Rooftop has shows all the time, so we need to own the equipment. But when we aren’t using our equipment, we don’t want it all to sit idle in storage, so we rent it at reduced rates to make a little money for our organization and to help artists and communities with their events.

How does it work?

• If you are interested in renting equipment, please fill out our Rental Request Form.
• Payments can be made via credit card or, if necessary, check.
• Rooftop Films offers discounted rates for artists and non-profit arts organizations. Please call if you need to discuss the possibility of additional discounts.
• All prices are subject to change. If you have any questions, please call us and we would be glad to talk about our equipment and policies.
• Equipment can be picked up and dropped off from our offices at 232 3rd Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
• Delivery, pick-up and technical assistance are available in the New York City area for an additional fee. Rates vary. We offer expertise in live audio, video, projection mapping, lighting, print traffic, and both indoor and outdoor event management.
• Payment is due before the equipment leaves our shop.

What is your cancellation policy?

As many of our events are outdoors, weather is always a consideration, and can be unpredictable. Here is our policy if you cancel the event for any reason, including weather:

• If you cancel 48 hours before load-out (usually 9AM on the show day), you can reschedule for an agreed-upon rain date at no additional cost. 
• If you inform us of cancellation prior to 9AM the day before load-out of the show, you pay the full price for the canceled event but can reschedule for 33% of the cost.
• If you inform us of cancellation after 9AM the day before but before Rooftop starts to load the equipment into our truck on the morning of the show (again, usually 9AM on show day), then you pay full price for the canceled event but can reschedule a rain for 50% of the cost.
• If you don’t cancel before we’ve started to load the truck on the show day, then you pay the full price for the event, and there is no discount on the rain date.
