We Are The Thousand

Anita Rivaroli | Italy | 80

In 2015, Fabio, a marine biologist with a huge passion for rock music convinced 1,000 musicians from all over Italy to gather in Cesena and play “Learn to Fly”, the famous Foo Fighters hit. His aim was to convince Dave Grohl, the leader of the band, to come and play in his town. A video clip of the performance together with Fabio’s speech was published on YouTube and it was viewed more than 50 million times. Soon afterwards Dave Grohl got the message and he decided to make the dream of the thousand come true.

Performer

Wilder Maker

Urban pastorals unfold in the music of Gabriel Birnbaum, the multi-instrumentalist, singer and writer behind the songs of Brooklyn’s Wilder Maker. Wilder Maker’s songs keenly observe landscapes of desire and abandon, filled with colorful characters and street revelations, in a musical setting as boldly diverse as their NYC home base.

Birnbaum’s songs find expression through longtime collaborators Adam Brisbin (Sam Evian, Buck Meek) on guitar; Sean Mullins (Andy Shauf, Kevin Garrett) on drums; and Nick Jost (Baroness, Johanna Samuels) on bass.
