The Film
Pink Wall
Tom Cullen | UK | 85
Six scenes. Six years. Six moments that shaped the relationship of Jenna and Leon. Pink Wall examines what defines us, the pressures of gender expectations, and our perpetual struggle between life and ambition. A 1091 Media release.
Performer
Faten Kanaan
Faten Kanaan slowly builds songs on stage by live-looping a synthesizer, without the use of sequencers or arpeggiators. The compositions are inspired by cinematic forms: from sweeping landscapes and quiet love stories, to the patterned tension of 1970s horror film soundtracks. Also loosely inspired by medieval canons/rounds and Baroque structures, the music hovers between ambient/electronic experimentations and semi-classical traditions. Kanaan focuses on bringing a human touch to electronic music that highlights the limitations & relationships between man, nature, and machine: the drifting of time, the dystopic grittiness, and the bittersweet (but hopeful) sense of nostalgia.
