The Film

Fire of Love

Sara Dosa | US, Canada | 93

Katia and Maurice Krafft loved two things — each other and volcanoes. For two decades, the daring French volcanologist couple roamed the planet, chasing eruptions and documenting their discoveries. Ultimately, they lost their lives in a 1991 volcanic explosion, leaving a legacy that forever enriched our knowledge of the natural world. Director Sara Dosa and the filmmaking team fashion a lyrical celebration of the intrepid scientists’ spirit of adventure, drawing from the Kraffts’ spectacular archive. Fire of Love tells a story of primordial creation and destruction, following two bold explorers as they venture into the unknown, all for the sake of love. Performer

Raia Was

Songwriter/producer Raia Was creates alt-pop that is dark, lustrous and contemplative. Raised by her mother in downtown Manhattan, she began performing as a teenager, holding a weekly residency on Avenue B and accumulating hundreds of hours of performance experience before beginning her professional career. Having grown up in the scene, Raia Was is a mainstay within the DIY community in NYC and spent years recording and touring as a vocalist and keyboard player before finally stepping into her own solo project as a performer.

Raia Was has an exceptional ability to push boundaries of genre and create magnetic work that is honest in its exploration of the intricacies of identity. She performs a controlled suite of electronic music with a rare brooding intensity and haunting sense of color and space set amidst her delicate and subtle arrangements.

Her debut LP Angel I'm Frightened earned her a placement in Season 2 of HBO’s Euphoria and is streaming now on all platforms. Limited edition vinyl available at www.raiawas.com.
