Help Shape the Next Chapter of Rooftop Films
Since 1997, Rooftop Films, a nonprofit organization, has used independent film to support filmmakers, transform public spaces into gathering places, expand access to arts and culture, and bring New Yorkers together in meaningful ways.
What began as a single rooftop screening has grown into one of New York City’s most distinctive cultural organizations, bringing independent film to rooftops, parks, plazas, waterfronts, and other public spaces across the city. Through these unique settings, Rooftop transforms public spaces into vibrant gathering places where communities discover extraordinary independent films together.
As we celebrate our landmark 30th Anniversary Season, we’re also looking ahead. We’re expanding our filmmaker support, bringing more free screenings to communities across the city than ever before, and moving forward on some of the longer-term plans — including acquiring a more permanent year-round home, expanding to other cities, and other innovative ideas.
We’re seeking passionate, thoughtful, and engaged leaders to join our Board of Directors and help guide the organization’s next chapter.
If you believe in the power of independent film, community, public space, and arts & culture to strengthen New York City, we’d love to hear from you.
