As you mourn the end of the 2014 Summer Series, take solace in the fact that many of the wonderful films we’ve screened this summer are now available for consumption in more conventional venues. While you may not get the stunning sunsets and cooling breezes that a Rooftop screening can offer, these films are just as good in a theater or in the comfort of your own home.
Out in theaters this Friday is Charlie McDowell’s debut feature THE ONE I LOVE, coming to you from RADiUS-TWC. IFC Films’ THE TRIP TO ITALY opened in theaters last Friday to a strong box office. Joe Swanberg’s HAPPY CHRISTMAS is now in theaters, VOD, and iTunes. Also from Magnolia, Lukas Moodysson’s WE ARE THE BEST is also in theaters, VOD, and iTunes. IFC’s COLD IN JULY is also available on VOD and iTunes, as is Michael Tully’s PING PONG SUMMER. Last but not least, our opening weekend feature sneak peek OBVIOUS CHILD is still going strong in theaters as well as VOD and iTunes.
One of the most exciting functions of the Summer Series is to give a showcase to new and upcoming films. We hope that if you have seen these and others at Rooftop Films that you will help spread the word and encourage your friends to catch these films in theaters. It takes a lot of passion and effort to compete with the marketing budgets of the big studios, so don’t be shy about loving these indie films!
