Rooftop Annouces Its 2014 Filmmakers’ Fund Grants

Rooftop Films is pleased to announce the opening of our 2014 Filmmakers’ Fund Grants! Applications to our 2014 Grants are now open and available to all Rooftop alumni. If you are a filmmaker who has screened with us in the past, you can click here to read the guidelines and apply for a grant.

In 2014, Rooftop will give away over $28,000 in cash grants, and over $80,000 in equipment and services.  Nine grants are available — five for feature-length films and four for short films.

Rooftop Films not only exhibits films from around the world, but, through our Rooftop Filmmakers’ Fund and Production Collective, we also collaborate with our alumni to help them make new movies. At our annual summer festival, one dollar of every ticket sold is set aside for the future productions of filmmakers whose work we’ve previously screened.

Past grantees have included Gillian Robespierre’s Obvious Child, Jeremy Saulnier’s Blue Ruin, Keith Miller’s Five Star, David Lowery’s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Sean Durkin’s Martha Marcy May Marlene, Benh Zeitlin’s Beasts of the Southern Wild and Glory at Sea, Johannes Nyholm’s Las Palmas, Lucy Walker’s The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom, and dozens more.

Only Rooftop alumni are eligible for a Filmmakers’ Fund Grant – our 2014 Grantees will be announced in the fall.
