Catch the Best of the Fests at NYC’s Town Hall

NYC’s landmark non-profit theater The Town Hall introduces a new ten-part film series unlike any other. For the first time ever, the theater presents The Best Fest Film Series, a ten week tour of the best films from festivals around the world. The program features a different renowned Film Festival each night, with curators and special guests in attendance. Directors and curators of festivals from around the globe will visit and discuss cinema in their respective countries and cities, talk about the history of their festivals, and present a celebrated film from their festival. The film will be followed by a question and answer session with the audience.

As a part of the series, Town Hall will present “The Very Best of Animation Block Party at Rooftop Films“, a night of the best animated shorts from our long-time, annual collaboration with Animation Block Party. The night’s films will include I am Tom Moody by Ainslie Henderson, Sidewalk by Celia Bullwinkel, Re-Collection by Nicholas Kallincos, and more. A panel discussion with Animation Block founder, Casey Safron, Rooftop Films Program Director, Dan Nuxoll, and award winning filmmakers Julia Pott (Belly) and Leah Shore (Old Man) will follow the screening.

Tonight’s program (March 3rd) will showcase the best of NYC’s Havana Film Festival, featuring the best of the latest award-winning films and classics from and about Latin America, the Caribbean and the U.S. Latino community.

Upcoming events in the series will showcase the best of International Film Festival Rotterdam, True/False Film Festival, as well as international festivals highlighting the best of Arab, Chinese, and Mexican cinemas.

Audience members will be given a rare opportunity to see outstanding films, learn about arts and film culture in international destinations, and experience the best and most exciting film festivals worldwide as introduced by Festival representatives.
