Brooklynites: Cast Your Vote for Rooftop Films!

If you or someone you know is a resident of Brooklyn’s District 39 (Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill & Windsor Terrace), Rooftop Films needs your help! We are very excited to announce that we have been included in this year’s Participatory Budgeting Project in the district!

City Councilmember Brad Lander has set aside $1 million for capital funding projects, and voters in the community will have the opportunity to decide how their tax money will be spent! We think this kind of democratic budgeting is a great thing for New York City, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it!

Along with a group of dedicated members of the community, we have proposed a bid for a new media & equipment van. As you know, Rooftop Films is constantly on the go, with free and low cost screenings all across NYC all summer long.

What you may not know is that we also have a hand in lots of small scale projects as well – working with schools, churches and other community organizations to help them create spectacular events of their own.

We’re calling for support from community members like you to help us continue to provide free screenings, equipment rentals at low-cost, and consulting for like-minded artists and community groups.

If our funding bid is approved, we will be able to dedicate more resources to things that really matter: creating and providing top quality, low-cost events & services to New York City.

So come out and cast your vote! This is a great opportunity to let your voice be heard in the community.

Participatory budgeting is your chance to weigh in on what community improvement projects should be funded. City Councilmember Brad Lander has set aside $1 million to fund your ideas. All you need to do is vote!

You may select up to 5 projects to support for funding in this year’s budget – Rooftop Films proposal is inexpensive to the community and will allow us to provide more free events & low-cost services for years to come.
