IFP to Support First-Time Filmmakers: Apply Now!

Attention, all first-time filmmakers with documentary or fiction features currently in post-production: the Independent Filmmaker Project is accepting applications for its Independent Filmmaker Labs, a program designed to take your film through completion, marketing, and distribution! IFP’s Independent Filmmaker Labs are FREE and designed with the developing filmmaker in mind, providing emerging directors creating low-budget films with a year-long mentorship, technological and strategic skills, and other tools to help launch your career.

The films completed and distributed due to IFP’s Independent Filmmakers Labs hold personal resonance for Rooftop Films. We’ve proudly shared our screens with IFP Film Lab alumni, exhibiting films such as “12 O’Clock Boys” (Lofty Nathan, 2013 Summer Series), “An Oversimplification of Her Beauty” (Terence Nance, 2012 Summer Series), “Our Nixon” (Penny Lane, 2013 Summer Series), and many more, as well as our annual, co-presented Filmmaker Lab Showcase.

Documentary filmmakers currently in post-production should submit their films by March 7, 2014; the deadline to submit feature films currently in post-production is April 4, 2014. IFP will select 10 documentary features and 10 narrative features to participate in three subsequent programs: the Time Warner Completion Lab in the Spring, the Marketing Lab in September, and the Distribution Lab in December. All projects participating in the Independent Filmmaker Labs will also participate in the Project Forum of IFP’s Independent Film Week.

This is an incredible opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to obtain vital industry training and exposure. Let IFP help get your film off the ground! For more info and to apply, click here.
