Ep 187: Jeremy Boxer • Jillian Schlesinger

[powerpress]

Creative Director of Film & Video at Vimeo, Jeremy Boxer, is the first guest. Boxer talks about some of Vimeo’s latest initiatives including Vimeo on Demand which recently launched 13 titles from this past Fall’s Toronto International Film Festival (including recent guest Alexandre Rockwell’s Little Feet). Vimeo hopes to do something similar with Sundance as they head to Park City. We also discuss Vimeo’s recent upgraded video player; users who encounter Vimeo On Demand content embedded off Vimeo can make purchases directly from the video player.

Next up is the filmmaker behind the new documentary, Maidentrip, Jillian Schlesinger. Jillian’s film introduces us to 14-year-old Laura Dekker who sets out on a two-year voyage as the youngest person ever to sail around the world alone. Do yourself a favor, listen to the podcast and then join Laura for her voyage. The film, distributed by First Run Features, had its world premiere last year at SxSW and will be having its theatrical debut this Friday, January 17th, at the IFC Center in NYC. Jillian will be present for Q&A’s at the 6:25 & 8:25PM screenings on both Friday and Saturday. Many others associated with the film are expected to also be present.
