Chief Curator of the Museum of the Moving Image, David Schwartz, is the first guest. From January 10th — 19th, he Museum will be hosting the film showcase, First Look. The opening night festivities will include the New York premiere of Alexandre Rockwell‘s new film, Little Feet (Friday, January 10th, 7:00 PM) followed by a reception. There are about a dozen other films cherry picked from a variety of international festivals. Another of those films is Joel Potrykus’ Ape (January 18th, 4:00 PM). Joel is the guest in the final segment of this podcast.
Sandwiched in the middle is filmmaker Esther Robinson who returns to Filmwax Radio to discuss the upcoming Cinema Eye Honors award ceremony which will also take place this Wednesday, January 8th at the Museum of the Moving Image in Long Island City. Tickets are still available. Robinson is the co-chair along with former podcast guest AJ Schnack. Honorees include Barbara Kopple who will be receiving the Legacy Award for her seminal work, Harlan County, USA. The Hell Yeah prize goes to Josh Fox for his Gasland films; and of course, much more.
