Upcoming deadlines for Filmmakers

For filmmakers, tis the season to apply, submit, enter, etc. your film for festivals, labs, and seminars happening this summer and beyond. In the coming weeks, there are at least four deadlines for great opportunities for filmmakers to be a part of our Summer Series, submit to the Northside DIY Film Competition,  join the Robert Flaherty Fellowship Program, and apply for the IFP Independent Filmmaker Labs.

2013 Summer Series Extended Deadline is March 1, 2013 for Without a Box members only!
In May we will begin celebrating our 17th year of bringing the best independent films in the world outdoors and to the rooftops of New York. This Friday, March 1 is your last chance to be a part of one of the most unforgettable, unique, filmmaker-friendly, independent film events in the world. This extended offer is for Without A Box members only and the fee is $20. To thank you for submitting, every single filmmaker who submits a film will receive TWO complimentary tickets to the 2013 Rooftop Films Summer Series (a $24 value). 2013 Northside DIY Film Competition Deadline is Friday, March 1, 2013.
Last year, Williamsburg’s Nitehawk Cinema packed the house with screenings of short films and features by some fantastic as-yet-unknown local and international artists. This year, it  could be you. There are two competitions: one for features, and one for shorts. The winning feature will receive $500 and the winning short will receive $250. Both winners will receive an $800 certificate for DCTV services (Equipment, Post, Workshops), a screening at Nitehawk Cinema hosted by Northside Film, a MotionMaker sign up with Dailymotion, and two full page ads in The L Magazine announcing their wins. The Robert Flaherty Film Seminar Fellowship Program accepting applications through March 1, 2013.
There are Professional Development, Graduate Student, Philadelphia area and New England fellowships. Each year the Flaherty offers fellowships to graduate students and emerging and mid-career filmmakers and media professionals. The fellowship program is led by an academic who has attended previous Flaherty Seminars and is designed to further your knowledge of cinema through participation in an array of unique activities. IFP Independent Filmmaker Labs Submissions Deadlines: March 8 (Documentary) / April 5 (Narrative)
IFP’s Independent Filmmaker Labs are a year-long fellowship supporting independent filmmakers when they need it most: through the completion, marketing, and distribution of their first features. Lab submission is open to all first-time documentary and narrative feature directors with films in post-production. Structured in three week-long components held over the year, the Labs offer personalized attention on post-production, audience building, and distribution strategies in the digital age, followed by continued support from IFP as the project premieres in the marketplace.
