October 28th: Sunday Indie-Horror Marathon at the Brooklyn Lyceum

Horror, thrills, chills, suspense (not to mention music, food and drinks) – it’s Halloween Rooftop Films style. Rooftop Films and NVIDIA are excited to announce our first ever indie-horror-film marathon running throughout the evening of Sunday, October 28, 2012 – indoors at the Brooklyn Lyceum (227 4th Avenue – Park Slope, Brooklyn). There is no charge for admission and the event includes complimentary drinks, food and prizes. The film marathon begins at 4pm and continues throughout the night until midnight.

The event kicks off at 4pm with a reception featuring live DEATH METAL by the band Meek is Murder, accompanied by, projections, and complimentary food and drink. The films start up at 5pm with a special screening of Jeremy Saulnier’s Brooklyn slasher comedy, Murder Party. Jeremy, a recent winner of a grant from the Rooftop Filmmakers Fund, will be there to introduce the film and talk about his latest thriller, Blue Ruin. Once all the hipsters are slaughtered in Murder Party, we’ll screen Daylight Hole: Horror Shorts, a program of indie horror films from around the world. At 8:30pm, we will be presenting the first NYC screening of Spencer Parson’s award-winning, creepy new horror-comedy, Saturday Morning Massacre. Finally, at 10 PM, the marathon will conclude with End Of The Line, a late night short-film program featuring some of the most terrifying shorts that have played at Rooftop Films in the last several years, plus some new short terrors.

In between film programs we’ll play some terrifying tunes and serve free snacks and drinks, and Rooftop Films will raffle off the latest tablets featuring NVIDIA technology. RSVP is recommended but not required. Admission will be first-come first served.

Plus, for the first time ever, Rooftop Films will be screening an entire movie marathon off of a single tablet computer, an NVIDIA-powered tablet. Making use of NVIDIA’s powerfully efficient Tegra 3 quad-core chip, the tablets can play back more than eight hours of HD video on a single battery charge, so Rooftop will not even have to plug the tablet into a power source throughout the entire 8 hour horror film marathon.
