Join the Rooftop Films Team This Fall

Ever wanted to know how a nonprofit film festival works? We’ll here’s your chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at Rooftop Films! We are seeking interns for Fall 2012 and we are offering a chance to be a part of a dynamic team of professionals and to learn all there is to know about arts administration, marketing, and fundraising while watching hundreds of new and independent movies. This position is perfect for someone who is a self-starter, hardworking, passionate about film, and detailed-oriented.

This internships can be done for school credit. Find out your school’s internship or field work credit requirements and we will work with you to accommodate them.

Candidates would be expected to average at least two days a week in the office, but generally the more time you can commit the better. Our offices are on the border of Park Slope and Gowanus, near the R, F and G trains in Brooklyn, so please apply only if you will be able to handle that commute. We welcome graduate students and applicants finishing their 1st year of college (or age equivalent) or older.

Candidates should have good experience working with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and experience with Filemaker, HTML, design programs or video editing software is a plus. Internships are unpaid.

Internship tasks can include:

  • Tracking and requesting new independent films
  • Organizing and maintaining film databases
  • Organizing our tape library
  • Contacting and corresponding with filmmakers
  • Assisting with fundraising
  • Organizing off-season film screenings
  • Audio and video tech work
  • Marketing/Outreach/Publicity
  • General office work
  • Anything else you might be interested in-we want you to see how we work
