We are pleased to announce the New York theatrical premiere of Madeline Olnek’s sci-fi comedy Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same. This Gotham Award nominated film (Best Movie Not Playing at a Theater Near You) sold out over 1000 seats when it played at Rooftop this summer! If you missed it then, now is your chance to catch it.
Part 1950s “B” Sci-fi flick, part romantic comedy, this film a quirky mash-up with something for everyone who likes movies. It has been charming audiences all year (at Sundance 2011 and Rooftop Films to name a few), and has been compared to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The X-Files, and Manhattan.
The film’s week-long theatrical run kicks off tomorrow night, Friday January 6th, at one of the coolest (indoor) theaters in the city, reRun Gastropub Theater. The filmmaker Madeline Olnek and special guests will be around for Q & A sessions every night (and twice a night this Friday and Saturday).
The venue’s retro vibe compliments the film’s 1950s homage. In addition to the cozy, reclaimed car seats and off beat atmosphere, the theater also boasts a formidable list of craft beers, rotating taps, organic wines and gourmet theater snacks. Admission to the theater is only $7.
And while that’s already a great deal, it gets better. If you arrive 30+ minute before the show and buy $7 worth of booze and snacks, admission is free! Advance tickets are available online through reRun. If you can’t come early, order yours now! Otherwise, I recommend showing up after work for a cold beer and gourmet popcorn before the show.
