Long time Rooftop Films Alum Signe Baumane is known for creating mercilessly absurdist short animated films about uncomfortable subjects like sex and dentistry. Born in Latvia, educated in Moscow, trained under Bill Plympton, and living in New York City, Signe brings her biting originality to everything she does. She is the creator of fifteen animated shorts and is currently working on her first feature, Rocks in My Pockets, which is a funny film about depression.
Curious? Come see what we mean TONIGHT when the Society of Illustrators (128 East 63rd Street, between Lexington and Park Aves) presents an evening of Signe’s provocative and charming work. Signe will be there herself, to talk, dance, and, as she put it, “make a few observations about how insanity actually makes me sane.”
Tickets are Tickets $15 for non-members, $10 for members, and $7 for students. RSVP@societyillustrators.org or call Katie at 212.838.2560.
