Bill Plympton’s Idiots and Angels is now playing at the IFC Center. Get your tickets here.

Bill Plympton‘s animated short films have been nominated for multiple academy awards.  His cartoons and illustrations have appeared in The New York TimesThe Village VoiceVogue, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Penthouse, and National Lampoon. He has created music videos for both Kanye West and Weird Al Yankovic. And, he’s a Rooftop Alum many times over.

His latest animated feature, Idiots and Angels, is being called his most provocative work yet. New York Magazine described it as “ambitious” and “hilariously demented.” It’s about a selfish and morally bankrupt man who wakes up one morning to find wings growing out of his back. If that weren’t embarrassing enough, he finds that the wings are compelling him to do good deeds against his will. When he tries to hack them off, they just keep growing back. The story is dark, violent, and very funny. It’s also told entirely without dialogue, placing Plimpton’s characteristic visual wit and hand drawn style squarely and brilliantly in the forefront.

Idiots and Angels is now playing at the IFC Center in New York City. Bill will be there IN PERSON tonight and tomorrow.
