What is Polyflick? There are many things that make a great short film. But the most important is the story. This year's program focuses on wisdom and loss. From a man born without a body, to an HIV-positive young girl struggling with her teen years, to a wise man exploring the meaning of life, we learn that problems that often seem larger than life are all part of the human struggle. We are all connected to each other and that connection is something that we must embrace and acknowledge as being more powerful than many people recognize.

THE MUSIC:
Band members originating from Bahia, Brazil and Brooklyn, New York turn beat heads throughout the city drumming their fuse of Afro Brazilian Samba, Soul and Hip Hop. Occasionally accompanied by keys, acoustic guitar and horns one cannot ignore the outstanding sounds of tight percussion that stylistically connects Brazilian music and the roots of many musical genres right here in the US. The hard and fast definition of their drumming raises the spirits as well as audience members who cannot help but move to the syncopated rhythms of Brilho De Luz Band.
