The film, co-directed by the above two along with filmmaker David Beilinson, and which had a sold out show this past Saturday, follows Dr. Sarno whose radical approach to back pain has caused him to be essentially ostracized by the medical community. Then I’m joined by returning filmmakers Sabine Krayenbühl & Zeva Oelbaum with their new documentary, Letters From Baghdad. The film restores Gertrude Bell, a true original and the most powerful woman in the British Empire in her day, in history. The film had a sold out screening this past Saturday. After the intro (in which I talk about the new Brooklyn Alamo Drafthouse NYC and Kenneth Lonergan’s new film Manchester By The Sea), at the 12 minute and 40 second mark, I am joined by filmmaker Teddy Collatos back for his 2nd visit on the podcast. Last time Teddy talked about his feature Dipso. This time he’s back with Carolina Monnerat, his wife and one of the lead actors in his new film Tormenting the Hen. The film is a drama about a couple who rent a place in the Berkshires so one (Dameka Hayes) can direct a local play. The other (Monnerat) with more time on her hands becomes caught up in a drama with the strange next door neighbor (Matthew Shaw). The film also stars Filmwax Radio friend Josephine Decker. Actor Brady Corbet (Melancholia, Simon Killer) has directed his first feature film called The Childhood of a Leader, a historical thriller which he also wrote. The story takes place during the days of the Versailles Treaty and stars child actor and newcomer Tom Sweet in an unforgettable role. The film opens theatrically on Wednesday, July 27th in various cities.

Next up are the creators of Catfish (both the documentary and the series) who have co-directed a new action adventure film called Nerve. The film which stars Emma Roberts, Dave Franco and Emily Meade opens on Friday, July 22nd.

Last up is Leslie McCleave, the director of a new documentary called How Sweet the Sound: The Blind Boys of Alabama. That film is currently in the film festival circuit making its next pitstop at the Stony Brook Film Festival on Saturday, July 23rd.
