The Waiting Room delivers an intimate perspective of the American medical system, focusing on a low-income, urgent care waiting room as its case study. Director Peter Nicks has produced a film with the potential to galvanize a movement by giving a voice to the people for whom the system is failing and those who are struggling to make it work. Check out the film’s Kickstarter page, which aims to help ‘launch a grassroots promotional and community outreach initiative’ in order to support its fall release. The debate surrounding health care in the US is becoming increasingly important and donating towards the project’s $75,000 goal is a great way to get involved. As Nick explains ‘whether it’s a housekeeper or a surgeon, an unemployed plumber or an entrepreneur…in the waiting room every voice matters.’
