Brooklyn Workforce Innovations runs one of the finest film training program in the city, helping unemployed and low-income young people receive professional-quality film training. They’ve had for years an excellent Production Assistant training program (which Rooftop had a tiny hand in helping shape), and now they’ve graduated their first class of Camera Loaders/Assistants as part of their Union Track program.

Students were trained on 35mm and 16mm loading, camera checkouts, camera building, Red Camera, digital downloading, film inventory and more, and can help on any crew.

It’s easy to hire a “Made in NY” Camera Loader. BWI staff can arrange interviews or direct placements, several weeks in advance or at a moment’s notice. Contact BWI on their 24 hour hiring hotline 718-757-5816 or contact Program Director Katy Finch via email at kfinch@bwiny.org.
