+ The debut feature film from rising art-world star Brent Green
+ Live soundtrack by members of punk idols Fugazi
+ Artwork on display from Brent’s recent Chelsea solo art show

“A tinkerer’s ode to a tinkerer, and a romantic’s tribute to a romantic, Brent Green’s Gravity Was Everywhere Back Then radiates an oddball homemade charm.”
The New York Times [Click for full review.]

Brent Green’s work has been screening at Rooftop Films every year since 2006, and his live shows are always astonishing. Brent will be creating an entire live soundtrack to the movie—a dynamic folk-punk score by members of Fugazi, inventive sound effects, and Brent’s heartwrenching warbling narration. On display will be gorgeous eclectic objects from the film and from Brent’s recent successful art show at Andrew Edlin Gallery—including a surreal hand-carved piano Brent will play. Coupled with the stunning visuals of the film, the live experience elevates the spectacular film to the level of an emotional tour-de-force and a feast for the senses. For fans of cinema, music and art, this is a one-of-a-kind event sure to inspire and impress.

Brent has recently shown his work at the Museum of Modern Art (NY), the Hammer Museum (LA), the Berkeley Art Museum, and the IFC Center (NY), but this screening at Rooftop Films will be the first live New York performance of his lovely and rollicking debut feature.
