This film scares the guts out of me. The imagery is insane: little robotic Mickey Mouses doing blow and torturing cats. But the style itself is also intimidating — the way images pulse and shake, flex and flip. Ever hear of that drug “Devil’s Breath,” that kidnappers in Colombia use to make people lose their willpower for days on end? That’s what this film does. Whew. Check it for yourself.

N.A.S.A. A Volta (Alexei Tylevich | Los Angeles, CA | 4 min.)

This played as part of Rooftop’s “Dark ‘Toons” show on May 28, 2010. More films like it at “Fears and Fantasies” (6/5/10) and “Animation Block Party” (7/30/10).
