Bad at Dancing (Joanna Arnow | USA | 11 min.)
A perpetually awkward third wheel, Joanna inserts herself into the relationship of her more charismatic roommate Isabel. The mismatched threesome becomes increasingly contentious as the characters vie for control. With darkly comedic tones, Bad at Dancing examines the leader-follower dynamic of the two friends – their jealous rivalry plays out in the film's surreal world of singing, dancing and sex.
Joanna is a filmmaker and cinematographer based in Brooklyn. She recently wrote, directed and edited BAD AT DANCING, a narrative short that was awarded the 2015 Berlinale Silver Bear Jury Prize. She also directed several other films including personal documentary feature I HATE MYSELF :) which premiered at Rooftop Films in 2013. Her films have screened at Hong Kong International, New York Film Festival, Moscow International, Guanajato, Raindance, Maryland, Atlanta, LES Film Festival, IndieLisboa and others.
