An evening honoring many of the rising stars from Rooftop Filmmakers’ Fund on the spectacular 57-story rooftop of the W New York Downtown The Residences.

Rooftop Films staff and board present an evening of fundraising honoring the many rising stars from Rooftop Filmmakers' Fund. At this fundraiser, Benh Zeitlin and David Lowery - two emerging auteurs who have been recipients of Rooftop's support - will discuss creative collaboration, community support, and the making of their visionary films.

About the Filmmakers:
Benh Zeitlin first screened his short film Egg with us in 2006, then received a Rooftop grant in 2008 for his critically acclaimed short Glory at Sea, shot in the bayou of New Orleans, LA. We were so impressed with his work that we then awarded him the Rooftop Films and Eastern Effects Equipment Grant which helped him to complete his 2012 Oscar-nominated feature Beasts of the Southern Wild in the same Louisiana locale.

David Lowery screened short films A Catalog of Anticipations and Pioneer with Rooftop as well as his 2009 feature St. Nick. His new feature, Ain't Them Bodies Saints, to be released on August 16 through IFC Films (and screening with Rooftop on 8/15), was the 2012 recipient of the Rooftop Filmmakers' Fund and Edgeworx Studios Post Production Grant, providing 1-2 weeks of post-production services for the completion of the film.

We invite you to join us on the roof of the 57-story the roof of The Residences at W New York - Downtown with these two prolific filmmakers and many other Rooftop Filmmakers' Fund grantees as we celebrate them and 17 years of Rooftop Films.

Rooftop Films is a 501-c3 nonprofit organization and a portion of your donation will be tax deductible.
