How do I buy a membership?
To pay by credit card, simply visit rooftopfilms.com/membership, select the type of membership you'd like, click "purchase" and enter your credit card information. Rooftop Films currently accepts credit cards through PayPal.

Once you have purchased your membership, we will contact you to confirm the name you would like your membership to be under. Membership benefits are only valid for the person whose name is on the membership. If you are unable to use your membership in your name and would like to transfer it to another person, you can do so on a one time basis by emailing email@example.com.
You will receive your Rooftop Films tote bag at the beginning of the 2013 Summer Series.
I just bought a Rooftop Membership. What do I need to bring to get into a show for free?
All you need to bring to get into a regularly priced Summer Series show for free is a valid photo I.D. However, if you would like to guarantee entry to a specific show, you must RSVP by 5pm on the day of the show.
What does "Guaranteed priority entry with RSVP" mean?
Members are guaranteed free entry to any regularly priced Summer Series show provided they RSVP by 5pm on the day of the show. For Double and Sustainer Members, you must specify the number of guests in your RSVP to guarantee their free entry.
If you do not RSVP by 5pm on the day of the show, you can still show up to the screening - and if the show is not sold out, you will be granted free entry. However you will not be admitted if the show is sold out.
In addition, Rooftop Films Members and Friends of Rooftop Donors are entitled to a special âMember Only " priority entry line, allowing them to avoid waiting in long ticket and will call lines with non-members. Please note: free entry cannot be granted for sold-out shows if members have not RSVP'd by 5pm on the day of the show.
How do I RSVP?
To reserve your seat at a regularly priced event, you will need to register for an account with Ticket Leap (our online ticketing partners). Once we know which email address you’ll be using with them, we’ll set you up with a “discount code”, which will be valid for all regularly priced summer series events throughout the summer. Ticket Leap will email you your code. All you have to do is redeem it once and every time you login going forward you’ll be ready to get your member tickets!
As a member, do I get free entry to non-regularly priced or off season shows?
No, membership applies ONLY to regularly priced, Summer Series shows. Membership pricing for non-regularly priced and off season shows may vary. Members will be informed of any discounts via email.
If I'm a member, but I can't attend a certain night, can I give my free entry to someone else?
No, memberships are only valid for the person named on the membership. Members must be present with valid photo I.D. to receive free entry. After you purchase your membership, we will contact you and ask you to specify what name you would like to be on the membership. You can either specify your own name, or the name of another person, if you are buying the membership as a gift.
What if a show is sold out? Can I still get in as a member?
You are not guaranteed entry to any show unless you RSVP by 5pm on the day of the show. For Double Members, Sustainer Members, and Friends of Rooftop Donors, you must specify the number of guests in your RSVP to guarantee their entry. If you know you will want to attend a certain show, we strongly recommend that you RSVP, as our shows do frequently sell out.
Can I buy a membership as a gift for my child/sister/friend who lives in New York City?
Yes, absolutely! After you purchase your membership, we will contact you and ask you to specify what name you would like to be on the membership. You can then specify the name of the person you are buying the membership for.
What if I have a Double or Sustainer Membership, and my guests arrive before me?
Guests of Double Members, Sustainer Members, and Friends of Rooftop Donors will not be allowed to enter if members are not present. Members should arrange to arrive at the same time as their guests.
What if I'm moving away from New York City, and I won't be able to use my membership for the rest of the summer. Can I cancel it and get a refund? Can I give it to my friend?
No, memberships cannot be cancelled or refunded. However, you can transfer your membership to another person on a one time basis if you are moving out of town or are unable to take advantage of your membership for some other reason. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to transfer your membership.
If I join today when will my membership expire?
Memberships purchased between January and August 2014 are valid for any regularly priced 2014 Summer Series shows (May 2014 through August 2014). Memberships for the 2015 Summer Series will be available for sale in October of 2014.
How do I qualify for a Student Membership?
To qualify for a student membership, you must be a current, full-time or part-time student age 25 or under. If you purchase a Student Membership, a valid student ID and proof of age must be presented at every show.
I'm not a student, but my son/daughter/friend is. Can I purchase a student membership for them?
Sure! Memberships make great gifts for New York City students. After you purchase your membership, we will contact you and ask you to specify what name you would like to be on the membership. You can then specify the name of the student you are buying the membership for. Make sure to tell the student to bring their valid student I.D. and proof of age to every show.
When do I get my free Rooftop Films tote bag?
Rooftop Films tote bags will be distributed to members at the beginning of the 2013 Summer Series. We will contact you after you purchase your membership to confirm what address you would like your tote bag to be sent to.
I love my Rooftop Films tote bag so much! Can I buy one for my friend/mother/brother/son?
Glad you like it! Yes! Rooftop tote bags will be available for sale at 2014 Summer Series shows along with T-shirts and sweatshirts. You can also order directly from Rooftop Films by emailing email@example.com

Is my membership fee tax deductable?
Yes, your membership fee is fully tax deductable, minus the cost of your Rooftop Films tote bag ($10), if applicable. If you would rather not receive a free tote bag, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you choose not to receive a free tote bag, your membership fees are 100% tax deductable.
What is my membership worth?
Memberships provide up to a $1755 value, but the membership itself has no cash value.
Why should I purchase a Sustainer Membership?
Rooftop Films is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. By purchasing a Sustainer Membership at $250 and above, you are doing even more to help Rooftop Films continue their mission of engaging and inspiring diverse communities by showing new, innovative, independent films in unique outdoor locations, producing new films, teaching filmmaking to young people, and renting equipment at low-cost to artists and non-profits. To say thank you for your support, we'll list your name on our website, in our printed program guide, and onscreen at every Rooftop Films Summer Series show. In addition, by purchasing a Sustainer Membership at $250 or above, your membership fees will be tax deductable minus the value of your Rooftop Films tote bag ($10). If you would rather not receive a free tote bag, please email email@example.com. If you choose not to receive a free tote bag, then your membership fees are 100% tax deductable.
