Rooftop Films Spring Internships

Rooftop Films is seeking interns for Spring 2017. We welcome students finishing their 1st year of college (or age equivalent) or above and all graduate students. Applications are due no later than January 30, 2017.

Internships are not paid, but Rooftop Films’ staff will work with your school for internship credit. Applicants are encouraged to check their school’s internship or field work credit requirements before applying.

Please note: our offices are on the border of Park Slope and Gowanus, near the R, F and G trains in Brooklyn.

Festival Programming Internships (2 positions available):
A great opportunity for students studying film as well as young filmmakers: learn how a nonprofit film festival works and see hundreds of great movies.

Interns will work closely with members of the programming team to assist in the pre-screening and rating of film submissions, and will participate in almost every process of the programming process. Interns will also assist with the general operations of Rooftop Films off season programs and preparation for the 2017 Summer Series, including fundraising, marketing and outreach, organizing of off-season screenings and general office and festival work.

Candidates must have excellent organizational and communication skills, and an enthusiasm for film criticism and/or curation. This internship is an excellent opportunity to participate in the programming process of Rooftop Films and a great way to learn the inner workings of a film festival. We welcome undergraduate and graduate students (a passion for film is a must – film production / film studies experience is a plus).

Candidates should have good experience working with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), Google Docs, and experience with Filemaker, HTML, design programs or video editing software is a plus. Interns would be expected to average at least two days a week in the office, but generally the more time you can commit the better.
