Every life has its share of hardship, and yet we persevere. Every society encounters disaster, yet we survive. Some people press on stubbornly, ignoring the crumbling world around them. Some people craft rituals to build order out of chaos. Others look internally, trying first to make sense of their own minds before addressing the larger picture. In this uplifting program of short films, tragic situations bring beauty to the foreground, and passion leads to salvation.

Strange Shapes
"Brooklyn’s Strange Shapes recently released b-sides from their 2011 EP Star Chart, an album that’s been on nearly all of my playlists for months. Their tunes are a masterful combination of fun, upbeat Ra Ra Riot-esque indie pop and tight instrumental arrangements spearheaded by Booker Stardrum’s stellar percussion, Ezra Tenenbaum’s 12-string lead guitar, and Marshal Garbus’ Nashville-tuned rhythm guitar."
