Love will find you when you least expect it.

Falling in love with someone is truly an extraordinarily experience. It’s uncontrollable, intoxicating and risky. When you have a real connection with someone, the initial encounter with that person leaves you wanting more. But what happens if the timing is all wrong? What if your future is unknown? Filmmaker Conrad Jackson will be at the show in person to answer for a Q&A after the film.

THE FILMS

Falling Overnight (Conrad Jackson | Los Angeles, CA | 88 min.)
Love will find you when you least expect it; this is the situation that the characters Elliot and Chole face in the romantic, funny and honest Falling Overnight. Preparing for life-altering surgery, Elliot, charmingly played by Parker Croft (who also co-wrote the film), makes a move to get to know the lovely Chloe (Emilia Zoryan), a girl he meets by chance.

It’s possible that because his future is unknown, Elliot is willing to let his guard down and the embrace the events of the night as the ride out. Random yet romantic adventures throughout a warm Los Angles night solidify their instant connection, and when Elliot’s truth is revealed, so are the downsides of falling in love. Pain and disappointment are the other side of the love spectrum, and are just as heightened as the intoxicating feelings they have just discovered for each other.

The story plays out at the leisurely pace of a summer night, drifting from small moments to wild adventures with the ease of budding love affair. Directed by Conrad Jackson, the film does what it was indented to do, successfully telling the bittersweet experience of falling in love when the future is uncertain. Not over dramatic in any sense, the connection between Elliot and Chole feels real, as does Elliot’s solitude towards his illness. It’s perfected by the performances of Croft and Zoryan, and a slew of secondary likeable characters.

Ultimately, the multiple award-winning Falling Overnight is a complicated yet sweet story of two people falling in love, a film that serves as a reminder of how powerful love can be, delivering equal amounts of pleasure and pain all within one night.

MUSIC

Sherlock's Daughter
"The sound of Sherlock’s Daughter is a fascinating hybrid of delicate female lead vocals and somewhat unsettling instrumentation, leaning towards the droney and the dreamy. The emphasis can often be on chanting vocal choruses, with intricate percussion and pulsing keyboard undercurrents." - the deli
